This month we are working on our IRIS project:

Consider the areas of assessment used in PowerUp:
·      Exploration and understanding of oneself as a learner.
·      Development, adjustment, and application of learning tools, strategies, and technologies.
·      Gathers reflects on and responds to evidence of learning.

Due Dates:

Task A - March 5th
Task B - March 12th
Task C - March 19th

Task A
In your IRIS profile, you will update answering these questions with full sentences:

·      Understanding Myself as a Learner
1.     Are you a Visual, Auditory or Kinesthetic Learner or maybe a combination of two or all three? (Complete the survey)
2.     What are your strengths as a learner? (Google search how your strengths and choices)
3.     How do you describe yourself based on the type of learner that you are?
·      My Goals
1.     What has been a goal that you set for yourself when you began Grade 8?
2.     Comment on a goal set early in the school year. Did you reach your goal? Are you continuing to work towards attaining that goal if it hasn’t been reached yet?
3.     Based on your work and understanding of SMART goals, add your current short-term goals, both personal and academic, and for an extra bonus, add your long-term goal into IRIS.
·      My Strategies
1.     List all strategies that have helped you attain your goals. Please be specific. Consider the points below:
§  What strategies support you when you write tests?
§  What strategies support you during regular classroom time, especially in subjects that you don’t care for?
§  What strategies support you at home or outside of school?
Task B

You will upload at least 2 artifacts from Grade 8, and examples of   artifacts that could be included are:

·      Essay - The Outsiders
·      Favorite Poem – upload an image and describe the importance to you
·      Favorite Book – upload an image and describe the importance to you
·      Math/Science learning (a test or assignment of particular interest to you)


Write a reflection on your learning by answering these questions: 

     - What did you complete?
- What would you change?
- What was challenging about the task?
- What did you learn?
- What surprised you about your learning?


Task C

Complete a WORDLE or Word Cloud using 25 words to describe yourself as a learner. Upload the image onto IRIS.
