Today students began to work on a notes booklet that covers trading amongst Western Europe and Asia leading up to the Renaissance. They were given a period to work it but will be given more time next week to work on it.

Today we started the final project for Princess Bride.  Students had 2 periods to complete the organizer.  They will  have one period to record and upload their video responses tomorrow.

Today students had one period working on their Princes Bride Character sketch, after hopefully completing the first part for homework last night.  They have one period remaining.  Due Monday
They also had one period working on research for the podcast project.  They were focusing on how their disorder works and how it is treated today, as well as looking at a disorder that would affect it during the Middle ages (remember alternative search terms could be dark ages or medieval Europe).


February 2

Today students were introduced to APA style, which is how they need to complete the reference page for their podcast.  If they need to reference them they will be in the project folder on drive.  One person will copy this into their folder and then share to team members tomorrow

They spent one period on the second characterization assignment for Princess Bride.  They will have 3 periods this week to complete the worksheet and the Character study, which is due Monday Feb 10. A digital copy is in The Princess bride folder (see link below)

Today students were introduced to the cross curricular podcasting project they will be working on over the next 4 weeks.   The calendar is posted above.  We will be continuing with Princess Bride during this time.
Students were also given a planner for their writing assignment tomorrow.  It will be a one period write.

My apologies for not blogging lately.  The words of the day for the quiz tomorrow are up to date.  

  • Monday 
    • 803- 2 Periods working on the start of book characterization assignment (see link below)
    • 804- 1 period finishing the start of book characterization assignment (see link below).  Period two we started looking at the big picture of Europe in isolation during the middle ages. This builds on on our look at daily life with the annotation last week. We watched this video and ended up with these notes.

Today we read chapters 3&4 of the first of three characterization assignments.   Students worked hard so extra time will be given Monday.  Have the character traits sections done so Monday can be focused on the job interview section.

Once the quiz was done 803 went to the learning commons where they broke into their Current event groups to work on "the basics" analysis of the film Ian

804 broke into partners and analyzed the film The Escape, with particular emphasis on identifying the climax of the story

We reviewed the Japan mapping activity today, and then moved onto looking at the advantages and disadvantages to its geographic location.
In ELA we finished our notes on "The Basics" of literary analysis circle (both classes) and started owrking on the plot diagram (803).
Tomorrow we will resume this and introduce our current events activity for the year.
